Professional development opportunites with MINTRAC

Are you looking for the next step in your career? Why not complete a Diploma of Meat Processing through MINTRAC?

The Diploma of Meat Processing is a great way to complete an advanced qualification over a time period that suits you. A Diploma is made up of six units which you chose from a wide range of topics. When selecting units think about how they relate to the job you are currently doing, your career pathway and the skills you want to develop, any requirements your company may have (especially if they are paying for your study), your interests and capabilities and the timing of the units.

If you are thinking about doing a full Diploma of Meat Processing you should have a chat with either Wendy Hall at Response Learning, or Jeff Bradbury at TAFE Queensland South West. They will be able to help you prepare a study plan. The study plan will show the units you have chosen and how long you think it will take you to complete the Diploma. The study plan is not set in stone — you can change it as you progress through the program depending on what your circumstances are at the time.

Each unit is covered over a three or four day workshop, followed by work-based assignments, private study and personalised contact and support during the assessment process. If you are working full-time it would probably take you around three months to do each unit including assessment. However, it doesn't matter if it takes a bit longer or you get through it quicker, the most important thing is that you are working at a speed that is most comfortable for you and fits in with your work and/or family commitments.

If you are not interested in completing a Diploma at the moment you can still do a workshop without the assessment. However if you decide to do the Diploma later on, you may have to attend the workshop again.
